Position Overview:

 

The Service Representative is responsible for the on time, accurate delivery of food service products to our customers on a daily basis.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

·          Not your typical driving job – 30% Driving and 70% Delivery, Customer Service and administration

·          Operate and drive straight trucks to transport goods and materials over urban and short inter-urban routes

·          Required to be on call and available on days off. (Candidate will be guaranteed one day of rest per week)

·          Average start time is between 3:00am and 5:00am, employees must call the night before to verify start time

·          Conduct routine truck inspections to ensure safety requirements are met

·          Must be able to work in all kinds of weather conditions

·          Ensure all products are delivered on time from the Warehouse to the customer as required

·          Wheeling 600-800 cases without the use of power equipment and working until all cases have been delivered

·          Deliver products to customers on a specified route and time schedule.

·          Sort and load all products from the truck and hand-wheel into the customer locations with occasional use of stairs depending on customer location.

·          Perform product delivery verification at customer location and obtain signature from customer

·          Maintain records of delivery routes, temperature logs, count sheets, truck information and customer invoices

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Customer Care Lead in each Division, this person assists Gordon Food Service (GFS) in providing the highest level of service, quality and integrity to external and internal customers through expedient phone support.  Provides immediate voice and contact point to solve difficult and/or urgent problems and basic service requests through teamwork, knowledge and professionalism.  Essentially the first level of customer issue resolution for pre and post order entry support.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

High School Diploma or General Equivalent Degree.  Post secondary diplomas or certificates in Business, Sales and/or Marketing preferred.

 

Experience:

One to two years previous Customer Service and Account Management experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Essential Functions (Duties):

·         Receive internal and external customer orders and requests via phone, email, or fax and enter accurately into system.  Follow up on any issues with online orders sent throughout the day.

·         Maintain knowledge and proper use of GFS systems to include phone system, mainframe, and Internet applications

·         Arrange exception deliveries in collaboration with the transportation department or delivery service in urgent need cases

·         Excellent follow up, accurate and efficient completion of tasks and communication to all required parties both internal and external

·         Must be able to manage through efficiently, effectively and timely all reasonable customer divisional concerns, e.g. routing, transportation, credit, inventory or common product sourcing and elevate to Centralized NMU team or Account Manager where necessary

Material Handlers - NOC 7452

JOB SUMMARY:

- The Material Handler is responsible for accurately selecting customers’ orders & properly preparing loaded pallets for shipping
- Selection of product can occur from any area of the warehouse:

- produce
- grocery
- freezer
- cooler


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Operate power jacks in a safe & courteous manner
- Report any power jacks & other basic equipment concerns
- Accurately & efficiently selecting customers’ orders
- Lift & pile food service products (3 lbs. to 100 lbs.) onto pallets for shipping in a correct customer location/stop sequence
- Occasionally load trucks
- Maintain expected GFS Edmonton performance standards:
- picking errors below 1 per 1000 cases picked
- pick rates/case selection standards:
- produce - 100 pieces per hour
- grocery - 125 pieces per hour
- frozen - 125 pieces per hour
- short ships below 1 per 1000 cases picked
- Merge product onto pallets for delivery (repack, must-go’s items, cross-dock items, TBO (to be ordered)/NSLL (non-stock, non-list) items
Carry out all other responsibilities as required by the Warehouse Foremen or Shift Team Leaders


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

- Preference will be given Grade 12 / High School Diploma
- Please note: WHMIS (workplace hazardous materials information system) & TDG (transportation of dangerous goods) training will be provided upon hiring


ENTRY LEVEL SKILLS REQUIRED:

- Physically fit
- Be able to handle shift-work at night time hours = 6 PM to 6 AM (Nightshift is GFS Edmonton entry-level shift.)
- Must be able to read & verify product descriptions from labels or pick slips
- Must be able to work safely in a busy team environment
- Understand & excel at internal & external customer service
- Possess strong attention to detail
- Able to work with minimal amount of supervision
- Should be self-motivated
- Some basic mathematical skills’
- Some keyboarding skills would be an asset


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS TO BE DEVELOPED:

- Knowledge of WMS (internal inventory management system) & label system
- Knowledge of all departments and the products within
